Specialty Vehicle Ready

Date: 12/20/2006
A new vehicle is ready to serve the community and our crews in times of need. Formerly one of our first line ambulances, this retrofitted 1991 Horton Type III is now a Mass Casualty and Rehab unit. A brainchild of staff member Jim Wolfe, the unit is very practical when you consider the fact that all of our current drivers can operate it and our MCI and rehab resources are all on one vehicle. Now, when the need for MCI or Rehab resources is realized we can respond this vehicle immediately as opposed to waiting for a driver for a larger vehicle, connecting a tow behind trailer or gathering equipment and supplies. Equipment includes coolers, chairs, triage tarps, triage flags, cones, MCI kits, mutliple BP cuffs, oxygen manifold, 25 long boards w/attached cardboard CIDs, 25 adjustable c-collars, disposable treatment supplies and more. A very special paint scheme pays memorial to the 9-11 events as well as America as a whole. The graphics include the American Flag, the Bald Eagle, the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the words of Todd Beamer, "Let's Roll" from flight 93 on the doors of the cab. We are currently working with our county PSAP to arrange a unit designation for ease of dispatch.
